The 13th Annual Cougar Golf Classic was held at Driftwood Golf & Fitness (formerly Eagle Trace Golf Course) recently, raising over $7,000 for technology at Clearview Elementary.
The Cougar Golf Classic is a shot gun start scramble tournament including golf, contests and prizes at each hole. This year, the team of Jon Rutar, Michael Rutar, Joe Hartel and Becca Hartel brought home first place, with the American Heritage team of Andy Voller, Adam Vee, Adam Couzens and Chad Lane coming in second.
Organizer Shannon Essler-Petty had a special thank you for Jessi Bost, PTA President Lori Johnson and Clearview teacher Tammy Peterson, along with the many other volunteers who worked hard to make the day successful.
Title sponsor for this year’s Cougar Golf Classic was the Clearwater Travel Plaza, major sponsors were the Clearwater and Clear Lake Lions Clubs, food sponsor was McDonald’s Meats, beverage sponsor was Kentucky Fried Chicken, and golf cart sponsor was Premier Real Estate and Voigt Bus.
Hole sponsors were Clearview Travel Plaza, Clearwater Lions, Clear Lake Lions, North Benton Dental Care, Grayson’s Berryland, Gray Potato Farm, Johnson, Larson & Peterson, P.A., Sons of American Legion (SAL), Anderson Underground Inc., Knitski’s Grill and Bar, Northridge Express, Inc., Clearwater Legion, Bernick’s, American Legion #323, LEAF (Local Education and Activities Foundation), American Heritage Bank and Voigt Bus.
Hole contest sponsors included Briggs Lake, The Kettle, Scheels, Little Dukes, American Legion, Striker Ice, Beaver Island Brewery, Eddie’s Auto Repair, Crafts Direct, YMCA, D&L Taco Gringo, Loft Salon & Spa, and Dairy Queen.
Raffle sponsors included River City Dental, Yapel Orthodontics and Defined Logistics Solutions. Raffle prizes were three bracelets from D.J. Bitzan, plane ride for three from Kurt Leaders, two tickets to Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing from Great Theatre, Striker Ice sweatshirt and two tickets to the MN Zoo.
