Cis 4607 Wins Chairman Award For Second Time

The Becker Robotics Team, CIS 4607, participated over the weekend at the 10,000 Lakes Regional at William’s Arena and captured the Chairman's Award — the most prestigious award at FIRST Robotics.

The Chairman’s Award is given to the team judged to have the most significant measurable impact of its partnerships among its participants and community over a sustained period, not just a single build season. The winner is able to demonstrate progress towards FIRST's mission of transforming their culture to reflect FIRST ideals.

CIS 4607 is now invited to not only participate in the World Championships in St. Louis, MO, April 26-29, but also the Minnesota State Tournament in May.
CIS 4607 is the third team in Minnesota to ever win this award in back-to-back years.

The regionals last weekend ran Thursday through Saturday with 63 teams from across the area competing. Becker was again there mentoring Big Lake — a school that is still in its rookie status. Elk River was another team competing and it was the Elks who mentored Becker back in 2013 when the Bulldogs were getting their feet wet in Robotics for the first time.

Along with Becker, Big Lake and Elk River, there were five of the 12 Central Minnesota Robotics Hub competing including, Delano and Eden Vally-Watkins.

Annandale and St. Cloud also competed in the 10,000 Lakes Regional while Monticello competed at NorthStar, which held their regions at Mariucci Arena.

Becker Robotics would not be where we are without their sponsors. They say, “Thank you for providing endless support to our team, and for believing in a bunch of high schoolers with the drive to change our culture.”
