One year after his dad was inducted into the Minneota Hall-of-Fame, Chris Meidt (formerly of Becker) was given the same honor Sept. 27.
Chris’s dad, Gerhard is also is a member of the Minnesota High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame and coached Chris in the mid-80’s when he attended Minneota High School. Chris was a quarterback and in 1987 under the tutelage of his dad, was named the Associated Press Minnesota player of the year.
He helped lead the Vikings to back-to-back state titles in Class C and set several set state and even national records as the star quarterback.
Gerhard also coached at Big Lake during the 1995-97 seasons.
Chris, 47, has had a prolific career in coaching after his playing days including his stint with the Washington Redskins as QB coach in 2008, 2009 and some time coaching for Dwight Lundeen in 1993-94 and again in 2014-15 — where the Bulldogs captured back-to-back state titles.
It just so happened Chris’s son, Alex, was a star on the Bulldogs football team while Chris coached there. Alex currently attends Iowa State University. He has two sisters in Madee and Evee (his twin).
Chris’s wife, Allison and he currently live in Cedarburg, WI.
