Cc Teams Do Well In Front Of Home Crowd

Tuesday, the Becker Bulldog boys and girls cross country teams hosted their annual invitational CC meet under blue skies and warm temperatures.
 
Girls Varsity
The Becker's girls varsity team ran very well, taking first place against good teams from Pine City, Milaca and Mora, amongst other area schools. 
 
Becker finished 1-2-3 in the individual places with Lexi Dehmer winning the event.  
 
Alli Hendrickson got off to an early lead with Dehmer tracking her in second.  Julia Bengston moved into third place, ahead of Mora's Brooke Wedin (who placed ahead of both Dehmer and Bengston in Foley the week before) and held that position strongly. 
 
During the last mile, Dehmer caught up to Hendrickson and the two ran a nice race to the end with Dehmer showing a kick and finishing strongly in first (19:41.94) and Hendrickson second (19:56.0).
 
“The three Becker leaders ran good times over the course of rolling hills and turns,” said Head Coach Trish Reimer-Kealy. Bengston took third (20:07.00) and Mora's Wedin fourth (20:20.10).
 
Sydney Stommes was Becker's fourth runner, placing 13th (22:04.88) out of the 68 runners. Victoria Kolbinger was 27th (22:48.52), Jada Rositas 28th (22:52.59) and Alli Garding 41st (23:36.67).
 
Team scores: Becker 46, Pine City 53, Mora 93, Milaca 125, Princeton 142, Spectrum 144, Rockford 181, Little Falls 197, Zimmerman 200, Big Lake 219, Foley 294. 
 
There were 68 runners.
 
Boys Varsity
The Boys varsity team placed fourth out of 10 teams.
 
Caleb Foster continues to pace the boys as their top runner, placing 16th (18:36.04). He was followed by Jonathan Novak in 22nd (18:55.68) and Olsen Pancoast in 25th (18:57.91).
 
Keith Sorensen ran for 36th (19:33.43), Basil Ricker 40th (19:38.62), Sam Somrock in 48th (19:53.85.) and Lachlan Lahr in 69th (22:19.68). 
 
There were 71 individuals running.
 
Team Scores: Mora 29, Little Falls 52, Big Lake 112, Becker 138, Foley 144, Spectrum 154, Pine City 160, Milaca 176, Zimmerman 215, Princeton 282. 
 
JV Girls
The Becker JV girls team took first place in a field of five teams and 59 runners. 
 
“The girls ran great as a team, packing well,” said Reimer-Kealy.  
 
Gabby Imm took second (23:03.31), Allyna Storms third (23:11.24), Callie Doucette fourth (23:17.33) Madison McDonald seventh (24:08.33), Caylah Pauman eighth (24:09.74), Siera Knick 10th (24:32.81) and Shannon Sydow 14th (24:52.58 PR).
 
Team scores: Becker 22, Pine City 35, Little Falls 85, Mora 112, Milaca 144.
 
Boys JV
The Becker JV boys came in sixth amongst 96 runners.
 
Bennett Edling placed 18th (20:17.59), Brett Parson 48th (22:08.20), Brendan Potter 53rd (22:30.19), Erik Parson 59th (22:56.48) and Logan Lahr 80th (24:50.24).
 
Junior High Girls
The junior high girls team finished second with Abby Nelson, Trinity Olson-Burkman, Jaden Kraus, Olivia Mateyka, Allie Loken, Faith Potter, Grace Wilhelm and Anna Pancoast running.
 
Junior High Boys
The junior high boys team placed sixth with Aaron Gregory, Cade Stommes, Ethan Baker, Wyatt Hiltner, Jack Budd, Jake Nelson, Tucker Schmoll, Jimmy Hines and Adrian Johnson running.
 
“Thank you to everyone who helped make the meet a success,” said the head coach.  “Jesse O Neill and Dave Niemi and all the parents who worked the event. Also, a shout out to the Becker High School pep band who came and played for the teams.”
 
Saturday, the varsity and JV teams will be at the Alexandria Meet of Champions, then next Tuesday the CC teams run at the Albany Purple Pride meet.
