After 17 seasons as a franchise, and numerous state championships, the Becker Buzzards 35 and older baseball team is in need of some new blood. A spate of injuries and retirements has left the team with too few players to field a team this year.
General Manager Jason Baune is putting a call out to the Becker and surrounding communities for some more ball players to step up.
“I absolutely don’t want to see the Buzzards franchise come to an end,” an emotional Baune announced this week. “But the number of committed players right now is too low to commit to fielding a team.”
Over 50 players have donned the team’s signature red and black uniforms over the years, and just a few more able bodies would help the local crew keep the tradition alive.
There are no plans for an open tryout, but Baune and the other Buzzards are counting on a few guys to step up and keep the tradition alive.

Baune stated that the team has suspended its stringent fitness testing regimen for the upcoming season in an attempt to lure some more players.
