The Becker Buzzards 35 and over baseball team beat the Minnetonka Saints 2-1 last Friday at Big Willow Park in Minnetonka. Matt O’Neill led the way for the Buzzards, going 2-for-3 with a triple and scored both runs for Becker. Jason Pfingsten went the distance on the mound as he recorded 10 strikeouts to help the Buzzards win their first game of the season who are 1-4 in NSCBL League play.
“Everyone played well tonight,” Co-Manager Deron Trovall said. “Our hitting came around, the defense was exceptional and we received a great pitching performance from JP.”
The Buzzards are off until July 12, when they host another Minnetonka team, the Lakers at 3 p.m. It will be the first meeting between the two teams since the Buzzard’s inception into the league in 2008.
“We don’t know much about the Lakers other than they are always in the north half of the league standings,” said Trovall. “It should be another close game.”
