Becker 4 St Cloud 3
Friday night was highlighted by a goalie change for the Bulldogs as freshman goaltender Dominic Esler got the nod to start over the injured A.J. Buntrock.
If there was any doubt that Dominic would rise to the occasion it was quickly dismissed as he had one of the best goalie performances Becker has seen.
The Bulldogs scored two goals early from Justin Reichle and Calvin Fritsch and held till St Cloud tied it up in the second quarter. Becker again surrendered a goal in the third, but in the fourth the Bulldogs tied it up with a quick score from Nate Kerzman.
The rest of the quarter saw tense defensive action as neither team scored until Calvin Fritsch scooped a ground ball, split two defenders and rifled in the winning score with 1:41 left of the clock. Calvin also dominated on face offs, winning an impressive nine of 10; Goalie Dominic Esler totaled 16 saves stopping 16 of 19 shots on the evening.
