Bulldogs Tame Tigers, Advance To Championship

The Bulldog football team advanced to the Section 6AAAA championship game with a rousing 37-0 victory over Princeton last Saturday.

The win propels the #1-seeded Bulldogs to the section final against #3-seeded Delano, who beat #2-seeded Zimmerman, 14-6.

Saturday’s game at Eppard Field started slow, but finished with a fury as the Bulldogs rattled off five straight touchdowns after a scoreless first quarter. They culminated the thrashing with a late safety to put an exclamation point on the win.

Becker’s first TD came from Isaac Koop who plunged in from the two-yard line in the second quarter. Koop would score another short TD later in the fourth to put the Bulldogs up by four scores and he also scored Becker’s third TD on a 12-yard completion.

Caden DeWall had just one catch on the day but it happened to put him in the end zone just before halftime. DeWall was dished the ball by QB Josh Fobbe from 11-yards out and the extra point by Emma Domka made the score 14-0 after two. She finished with five points.

Fobbe finished 15-of-24 for 188 yards and two TDs.

Following Koop’s back-to-back TDs to start the second half, Austin Berning got in on the TD celebrations when he rambled seven yards for a score in the fourth.

The Bulldog defense — holding opponents to about seven points a game — completely dominated Saturday’s game as they gave up just 94 yards total and minus 13 on the ground. Teddy Halvorson led all defenders with six tackles, three assists, four sacks and four tackles for loss. Brayden Weber had four tackles, one assist, one sack and two TFL and Lukas Paulson had three tackles and three assists.

Becker finished the game with 313 yards on 57 plays while Princeton had 94 yards on 48 plays.
