Bulldogs Split 2, Have 5 Games Left In Regular Season

Last Friday, the Becker boys basketball team broke heir six-game winless streak with a win over St. Francis on the road. However, they couldn’t actuate a win-streak when they lost to Chisago Lakes Tuesday at CSHS.

Becker 66, St. Francis 53

Nick Mittelstaedt exploded for 20 points to help lead the Bulldogs to their first win since the middle of January. Mittelstaedt also had two rebounds, four assists and one steal in the 13-point win.

St. Francis was led by three players in double-digits — each one scoring 10 points (Wyatt Schroeder, Cody Pennebaker and Matthew Bothun).

It was a big first half for the Bulldogs that propelled them to the win. They scored 40 first half points compared to just 28 for the Fighting Saints.

Wildcats 68, Bulldogs 64

For the second game in a row, Mittelstaedt notched 20 points but it wasn’t enough as Chisago Lake’s Andrew Koehler drained 24 points to lead his team to victory Tuesday.

The game was tight from the onset, as the two teams traded baskets and played great defense. By halftime, Becker held a 36-32 lead only to see it disappear in the second frame when the Wildcats posted 36 to Becker’s 28.

Becker scoring: Mittelstaedt 20, Cade Callahan 12, Fobbe 9, Knute 8, Seavert 5, Hietala 5, Cam Fischer 3, Carter Callahan 2.

Chisago Lakes scoring: Koehler 24, Beau Backes 12, Nick Wasko 11, Ethan Thompson 11, Grant Koehler 5, Noah Lasiuta 4, Reed Marquardt 1.
