JOSH NOHNER led the Bulldogs with 19 points in Becker’s 23-point win over Foley Thursday night. Nohner scored another 15 last Friday in Becker’s win over Princeton at home.
JUNIOR GUARD MICHAEL VELDMAN scored 34 points in two big wins over Foley and Princeton this past week.

Bulldogs Move Over .500 With Two Big Wins

In two rather dominant performances, the Becker Bulldog boys basketball team improved to 6-5 on the year with victories over Foley and Princeton this past week.

Bulldogs 71, Falcons 48
 
Josh Nohner put up 19 points and Michael Veldman 16 as the Bulldogs rolled over the winless Falcons at home Thursday night.
 
With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 3-2 in the Granite Ridge Conference, just a game and a half out of first place.
 
Nine Becker athletes made the scoring sheet as the home team jumped out to an impressive, 34-25 lead at halftime. The Bulldogs out-rebounded Foley 36 to 16 and shot 54% from the field compared to just 38% for the visitors.
 
Veldman went eight-for-11 from the field and had three assists, one rebound and one blocked shot. Nohner finished with three assists and three rebounds to go along with his 19 points.
 
Foley’s Jon Greener led the Falcons in scoring with 15 points and Andrew Klucas had 11 points, one assist and one rebound while nailing two of three pointers.
 
Becker Scoring:
Nohner 19, Veldman 16, Dawson Brown 9, Erik Tungland 8, Cole Anderson 7, Cody Gruenhagen 4, Andrew Davalos 4, Blake Barthel 2 and Zack Moeller 2.
 
Foley Scoring:
Greener 15, Klucas 11, Dallas Gapinski 7, Coleman Strosahl 7, Mitch Weisser 4, Nick Corrigan 2 and Kyle Kipka 2.
 
Bulldogs 85, Tigers 70
 
Veldman led the way in scoring with 18 points, as Becker finished with five players in double-figures in a nonconference victory over Princeton last Friday night at home.
 
Michael Veldman (18), Josh Nohner (15), Dawson Brown (15), Erik Tungland (14), Cole Anderson (10) all finished in double-figures for Becker (5-5).
Cole Anderson and Erik Tungland both recorded eight rebounds each in the game.
 
Senior guard Caleb Scharber led Princeton with 25 points. Brady Peterson (17), Chad Sinkel (14), and Marqus Flicek (12) finished in double-figures for the Tigers (3-5).
 
Becker played at Dassel-Cokato Saturday (full report on game in next week’s Citizen), then host a game Monday against STMA, Tuesday against St. Cloud Cathedral and travel to Mora Friday.
