Bulldogs lose 2nd in a row, 28-21 to Spartans

The Becker Bulldog football team hosted their Tackle Cancer night at Dwight Lundeen Stadium last Friday but it was the Rocori Spartans who brought agony to the home team as they improved to 6-1 on the year with a 28-21 victory.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a two-touchdown lead in the first half only to see the Spartans pour out four unanswered TDs to capture the win on the road.

Becker would tally a late score to make the game interesting, but it was too little, too late.

QB Tristan Kowalkowski finished with 223 yards on 17-of-36 passing and two TDs.

On the ground, Isiah Boyer had 56 yards on 13 carries while Sawyer Brown had 50 yards on eight carries.

On the receiving end, Brown had 100 yards on six catches and two touchdowns. Cayden Goodell had 63 yards on three catches in the loss.

On defense, Zach Halvorson had four tackles and three assists. Bennett Kujawa had four tackles, five assists, one tackle for loss and one sack.

The Bulldogs amassed 381 total yards to Rocori’s 292 and had 19 first downs to 12 for the Spartans.

Becker welcomed Detroit Lakes at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs will be up against the Lakers’ rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.14 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
