Bulldogs girl tracksters host home meet vs. 3 teams

Becker held a home track meet on Tuesday May 4, hosting teams from Cambridge Isanti, Chisago Lakes and North Branch.

“The competition was tough but as a team we had multiple season best times and personal records at this meet,” said Head Coach Trish Kealy.

Becker’s lone first place finish was earned by ninth grader Lexi Rose in the 1600 meters with a PR time of 5:49.52. This was her second effort at this distance this year and she ran a very smart race, staying right with the front runner until the last lap when she put on a challenge and overcame the competition just before the finish line in a very exciting race.

Also racing well in the 1600 was Meghan Swanson placing fourth with a time of 5:57.37.

Cassidy Pleoger raced to second place in both the 100 (13.37) and the 200 (28.41) and along with Jessica Gruenes, Lauren Woelfel and Sarah Woelfel in the 4x100, placed third with a season best time of 54.94.

Kayla Gruenes and Whitney Schug ran well in the 800, both with very strong finishes. Kayla took second (2:50.92) and Whitney third (2:56.38).

Becker’s hurdlers ran well. In the 100, Sarah Woelfel placed third, Regan Hausmann fourth and Lauren Woelfel fifth.

“It is alway helpful to get that many places in a single event and these girls push each other every time,” said Becker’s head coach.

In the 300 hurdles, the Bulldogs had Hausmann run very strong and she had a season best time of 53.38 for third place. Sarah W. took fifth with a season best time of 55.96.

Alea Briggs ran a PR time of 68.66 in the 400 and placed third.

Also placing third for Becker was Brooklyn Karel, running the 3200 for the first time. Her time was 12:53.54 and she ran with the leaders for the first half of the race doing a really good job.  Also in the 3200, Olivia Babler again ran well and placed fifth.

Lauren Woelfel placed fourth in the pole vault with a height of eight feet. Grace Schendel was fifth in the discus (82’ 9”), Jessica Gruenes fifth in the long jump (season best 14’ 8”).

The 4x800 relay team placed second (Meghan Swanson, Alea Briggs, Kayla Gruenes, Lexi Rose) with a season best time of 10:25.30

The 4x200 team of Kylee Morton, Madalyn Finney, Emma Monreal and Avery Boyer place fourth in 2:15.35.

The 4x 400 team placed  fourth ( Kayla Gruenes, Katelyn Brower, Regan Hausmann, Lexi Rose) in 4:38.89.

Becker’s next meet is Tuesday, May 11 at Princeton.
