FRESHMAN JULIA BENGTSON was sensational Tuesday night against Milaca as she scored 23 points, had five assists, six rebounds and five steals.

Bulldogs Even Record At 7 7 With Two Wins

The Becker Lady Bulldogs girls basketball team righted the ship this week, beating two scrappy opponents to improve to 7-7.
 
Becker 56, Cambridge 42
The Bulldogs hosted the Cambridge-Isanti BlueJackets Friday night and came away with a 14-point win.
 
Lexi Masog scored 22 points, using pinpoint shooting from the three point line and foul stripe.  She also did a nice job attacking the basket, which made her tough to defend.  
 
Courtney Nuest continued with her consistent season by adding 15 points and five rebounds.  Julia Bengtson scored 11 points to go with six rebounds and six assists.  
 
Becker shot 44% for the game and out-rebounded Cambridge 36-32.
 
 Amanda Westberg was the leading scored for Cambridge with 10 points and the Bluejackets fell to 1-11.
 
Becker scoring: Masog 22, Nuest 15, Bengtson 11, Alayna Lindquist 5, Haley benda 3 and Kirsten Fitzgerald 2.
 
Cambridge scoring: Westberg 10, Victoria Skiba 8, Myranda Brogger 7, Molly Hennen 7, Jackie Olander 5, Payton Larkin 3 and Kaylee Clement 2.
 
Friday marked the Bulldog’s midseason mark and the team is averaging 61 points a game while giving up nearly 57. They are averaging 16.7 assists while allowing 14.
 
The Bulldogs are bringing down 36.8 rebounds a game while giving up 39.1. The girls are averaging nearly 13 steals a game while allowing 10.
 
Team turnovers are averaging 16.6 and forcing 22 to opposing teams.
 
Benda is leading the team is scoring, averaging nearly 12 points a game while averaging five rebounds and 1.4 assists. Bengtson is second at 11.2 points a game, averaging nearly five rebounds and five assists.
 
Nuest averages 11 points a game while capturing 4.5 rebounds and two assists per game. Masog averages eight points a game with 4.5 rebounds and one assist. Madi Kerzman averages 6.5 points a game with five rebounds and one assist.
 
Lindquist is averaging 5.2 points a game with 3.5 rebounds and three assists while Renee Tripp averages four points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.
 
Becker 58, Milaca 33
The Bulldogs traveled to Milaca Tuesday to play the Wolves and won by 25, improving their Granite Ridge Conference record to 4-1.  
 
Bengtson played an exceptional game, scoring 23 points while shooting 8-for-11 from the field.  She also dished out five assists to go with six rebounds and five steals.  
 
“It was a great all around game,” said Head Coach Dan Baird. “She probably played even  better defense than offense if you can believe that.”  
 
Masog hit four three-pointers and kept Milaca's defense stretched, allowing for driving lanes for Bengtson, Lindquist, Tripp and company.  
 
Becker out-rebounded Milaca 53-42, which was a major goal for the Bulldogs going into the game.
 
Milaca who was led in scoring by Jalen Taylor's eight points and the Wolves fell to 5-6.
 
Becker scoring: Bengtson 23, Masog 12, Nuest 8, Jenna Mittelstaedt 5, Aly Gruenes 3, Benda 2, Fitzgerald 2 and Tripp 2.
 
Milaca scoring: Taylor 8, Miranda Broberg 7, Kendall Rensenbrink 6, Abby Forker 4, Ellie Banks 3, Erika Maalis 3 and Vanessa Deerberg 2.
