Bulldogs Bury Falcons 53 7

The Becker Bulldog football team traveled to Foley Friday night on a crisp, cool September night that felt like early winter.

Becker buried the Falcons in a blizzard of football dominance, 53-7.

The game began with Becker taking the opening drive and driving 65 yards in a little over two minutes. They scored the first touchdown of the game on a pass completion from QB Michael Veldman to Matt Conzemius from 20 yards out.

Foley thought they could stay with Becker in this game and on their first possession they made it appear so. QB Kyle Kipka got under center at his own 32 yard line and led his team on an impressive 14-play drive that resulted in a Carter Nielsen four-yard jaunt into the end zone.

The XP was good and the game was unexpectantly tied at 7.

Little did anyone know of the blizzard that was coming.

Becker’s next possession was a quick one with RB C.J. Schwintek gaining 26 yards on a first down play followed by a nine yard gain by Andrew Stanger and a pass completion to Conzemius for another nine yards. Three consecutive handoffs to Milan Kent, Beau Pauly and Schwintek resulted in another TD for Becker as Schwintek fumbled near the goal line and Conzemius was johnny-on-the-spot and pounced on the loose ball in the end zone for the score.

From there, Foley was stymied. Punt after punt, failed fourth conversions after failed fourth down conversions, the Bulldog defense slowly and methodically de-winged the Falcons.

By halftime, Becker held a 26-7 lead that seemed insurmountable by the way the teams were playing. And that turned out to be just the case.

In the second half it was as beautiful a story as the first half for the visiting Bulldogs and their fans — and an ugly fairytale for the host Foley Falcons as Becker doubled their scoring output while Foley just spun their wheels.

Pauly scored at the 6:51 mark to put Becker up by 25 and moments later Schwintek scored from the 19 to out Becker up 39-7.

Just as the fourth quarter started, Logan Anderson got into the action as he scored from  the four to put the ‘Dogs up at 46-7. The final score came when Anderson scored again, this time from five yards out to complete the scoring at 53-7.

Veldman finished the night going 14 for 24 for 207 yards and three TDs.

Schwintek rushed for 127 yards on 19 carries and scored one TD. Pauly had 55 yards on five carries and one score. Anderson had two scores on three carries.
Conzemius was the star at wideout, scoring two TDs while pulling down seven receptions for 117 yards.

Becker finished the game with 26 first downs compared to just 13 for Foley. Becker outrushed Foley 266 yards to 164 and outpassed them 203 yards to 31.
Up next for Becker is a road game at Mora Friday at 7 p.m.
