Bulldog wrestlers captured four third place finishes and three seventh place medals to finish mid-pack in the 16-team Veldman Invite at South St. Paul Saturday.
Becker had 93 points for seventh place. South St. Paul won the tournament with 216 points and was followed by Stillwater, 195; Blaine, 194; Maple Grove, 171; Lakeville North, 131; Eden Prairie, 130; Becker, Austin, 87; North St. Paul, 63; Park Center, 35; Humboldt, 25; Cretin-Derham Hall, 23; Mpls. North, 23; St. Paul Central, 22; and St. Paul Como Park, 15.
Becker’s four third place finishers were Lukas Paulson, 120, who won his ribbon with a pinfall win over Wai Wai Eh, Como, in 2:57; Jacob Berning, 138, a 4-1 decision over Jack Schlink, Eden Prairie; Logan Jurek, 145, a 4:48 pinfall win over Andrew Barnard, Como; and Nick Radunz, 285, who got a 4-3 decision over Aaron Mamundo, Park Center.
Ethan Anderson, 106, managed a fifth place finish, that coming with a 9-6 decision over Issac Fang, North St. Paul.
The three seventh place winners were Adam Jurek, 113, a 5-2 decision over Ethan Hook, Eden Prairie; Blake Paulson, 145, a 5-1 decision over Phillip Guse, Eden Prairie; and Alex Berglund, 152, an injury forfeit winner over Matt Stack, Park Center.
Lincoln Carlson, 170, picked up points for an eighth place finish, when he lost to Ethan Mantich, Lakeville North, 3-2.
After Saturday’s action, Anderson stood at 15-7 on the season; Jurek, 8-14; Paulson, 22-7; Berning, 18-8; Logan Jurek, 18-11; Berglund, 4-3; Carlson, 7-16; Radunz, 20-5.
