The Becker girls tennis team opened the season with an even record as they had a busy opening few days in playing four matches.
Last Wednesday, they opened the season with a 5-2 loss to Mound-Westonka. In the singles matches, Julia Peterson picked up the lone Bulldog win with a 6-3, 6-3 win in the number four spot.
Becker’s lone win in the doubles matches came in the second match, as Faith Gott and Lauren Croal were victorious with scores of 6-3, 6-4.
Last Thursday, Becker roared back with a pair of wins, downing Sauk Rapids-Rice 7-0 and New London Spicer 4-3.
It was a convincing win over the Storm, as Becker cleared the board and came away with the perfect afternoon.
Maddie Moe was dominant in the first singles spot, dropping just one game overall en route to the 6-0, 6-1 win. Dani Nuest followed that up with a 6-1, 6-4 win, while Ayla Brown (6-1, 6-1) and Julia Peterson (6-0, 6-1) also were dominant in winning their singles matches.
In doubles play, Becker also showed its determination by winning all three matches. Jazlyn Toedter teamed up with Madison Bass for a hard fought, 6-1, 5-7, 10-7 win in the number one spot, while Croal and Gott again crushed to a win. Kennedy Drehmel and Lily Anderson finished off the win in thenumber three spot.
Becker had a closer match against the Wildcats, but still came away with a close win.
Moe, Nuest and Brown won their singles matches and Becker also picked up a doubles victory from the duo of Croal/Gott.
Becker followed up a busy first week with a match Tuesday night against Pine City and fell, 5-2.
Winning matches for the Bulldogs were Moe and Brown, as the Dragons showed a little better overall balance in the match.
