Tuesday evening, the Becker tennis team showed great focus and resilience in taking a M8 Conference win over the Monticello Magic, 4-3.
“What a great battle it was today in Becker!” Coach Hokan Bengtson said. “Our kids came out and fought like crazy.”
Becker won a pair of singles matches and two of three doubles matches to notch the win and move to 3-1 in the Mississippi 8 Conference.
“I was so proud of how we started fast and finished points,” Bengtson added. “All over the courts tonight guys were encouraging each other and bringing energy. It was a great crowd and good atmosphere.”
Troy Nuest played #1 singles and took a 6-3, 6-1 win, while Adler Herdina won the #2 match by an identical score.
“Adler Herdina remained undefeated on the season and Troy Nuest stepped up big again tonight in singles,” Bengtson said.
In the doubles matches, Jon Drury and Garett Lane took the #2 spot and won 6-0, 7-5. Brock Herdina teamed up with Nathan Weiss to win the #3 match, 6-2, 6-3.
With the win, Becker moved to 11-2 overall and the Bulldogs were scheduled to take on Lakeville North in a Wednesday afternoon matchup.
