Bulldog tennis 2nd in section, Conzemius to state

The Becker girls tennis team finished second in the team portion of the recent section tournament, while Gracie Conzemius made a stellar run to qualify for the individual state tournament.

In team play, #3 seed Becker defeated the #2 seeded team from Perham/New York Mills by a score of 4-3.

Conzemius was the lone singles winner for the Bulldogs in that match, winning 6-1, 6-0, before Becker ran the table in the doubles matches to secure the win.  Winning teams for Becker included Chloe Spear/Tess Brown, Faith Bass/ Taylor Lisson and Sami Leaders/Bryn Dahlheimer.

In the final round, Becker fell to Fergus Falls by a score of 5-2.

Conzemius was again the singles winner for Becker, while Dahlheimer/Leaders won the other Bulldog match.

In singles section tournament play last Saturday, Conzemius battled back from a semifinal loss to claim true second and a berth in the MSHSL state tennis tournament.

She opened with a 6-0, 6-1 win over her opponent from Detroit Lakes before claiming a 6-2, 6-0 win over Layla Zosel from Fergus Falls.  Next was a loss to the eventual champion from Perham, Kaia Anderson, setting up the True Second match against Ali Bredenberg from Fergus Falls.  In that match, Conzemius played excellent tennis to claim the 7-5, 6-0 win and a spot at state.
