The Becker swimming and diving team used a home pool advantage last weekend to put forth an incredible section meet performance, and as a result, there will be a huge contingent of Bulldogs heading to the state swim meet.
The MSHSL State Swimming and Diving Championships were scheduled for Thursday through Saturday this week at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center on the U of MN campus.
As has been the case all season, the divers were awesome for the Bulldogs, with Maggie Graning and Karli Kirk finishing third and fourth, respectively, to earn the state berth.
Preliminary rounds were Thursday, while the finals will take place at noon on Saturday (today).
Becker also will send a relay to the state meet, as the 200 Medley qualified with a stellar finish at sections. Swimming for Becker in that event will be Grace Mork, Laila Cook, Izza Mork and Josie Reckelberg. Kailey McGowan and Elin Cook will be the alternates for the relay team.
Grace Mork also qualified for the 200 and 500 Freestyle events, while Izza Mork will also swim in the 100 Breaststroke and 200 Individual medley.
Congratulations to the Becker Swimming and Diving team on a great section meet, as well as the incredible state tournament qualifications.
