The Becker Bulldog boys soccer team saw its season end last week with a hard-fought, 3-2 loss to Alexandria in the Section tournament.
The Cardinals jumped on top for an early goal, but Bulldog Rowan Klug came right back and drilled a penalty shot into the back of the net to tie the game.
Asher Olson’s header then put the Bulldogs up by one, but the Cardinals scored the next two goals to regain the lead.
Becker had a chance to tie the game late on a penalty kick, but Evan Norberg’s goal was disallowed due to a teammate entering the zone too early and the Bulldogs did not get a chance to re-play the sequence.
“We got more than a bit unlucky with this game: an unfortunate penalty called on us, a disallowed goal for us and a penalty kick that we should have retaken but weren’t allowed to,” said coach Nick Crowley. “Rowen Klug came away from the game with a broken nose and Mason Sundberg a cleated ankle. We played really well so having this one ripped out of our hands by forces we can’t control is one of the most gut wrenching feelings to have.”
