Bulldog girls’ season ends with loss to Tigers

The Becker girls basketball team saw its season come to an abrupt end last Thursday in the opening round of the Class AAA, Section 5 tournament with a 56-44 loss to the Fridley Tigers.

Fridley went on to lose to Totino-Grace in last Saturday’s semifinals, 58-69.

In the quarterfinal matchup, Becker and Fridley went toe-to-toe in the opening half, as the two teams were tied at 24 heading into halftime.  In the second half, Becker went ice cold as their shots wouldn’t fall and Fridley stretched its lead to secure the win.

The Bulldogs shot just three-for-20 from beyond the three point arc in the game, as they were unable to generate enough offense to stay in the game.

Andie Changamire paced the Bulldogs with 19 points, while adding six rebounds.  Adele Changamire had eight points and six boards, while Tess Brown was a beast on the boards with 10 rebounds to go along with four points.  Other scorers for Becker included Eilidh Mrnak seven, Lauren Croal two, and Josie Reckelberg four.

With the loss, Becker ended the season with a record of 15-12, as they averaged 60.1 points and 30.9 rebounds per game.
