Bulldog GBB has busy summer

The Becker girls basketball team had another busy summer training season in June, as the program headed to Wisconsin Dells for what has become an important summer tradition.

A total of 20 Bulldog players attended the retreat, with an even mix of fun and basketball on the agenda.

“Our girls participated in 12 games total, and got to enjoy three days in the water park,” Head Coach Dan Baird said.  “We also took our annual trip to Moosejaw Pizza.  The girls had a blast and we’ve had some really good wins, too.”

The Bulldogs defeated a Byron team that went 25-4 last year, as well as a team from Illinois - Pleasant Hills - who finished 26-7 in their last season.

“Our older girls played phenomenal in the Dells going 6-0, while the younger group went 4-2,” Baird said.  “Andie Changamire has had some amazing individual matchups against top notch talent, and has dominated and taken her game to another level.”

Another area that Baird and his coaching staff has been addressing is the team’s work on the boards.

“Our team has been rebounding so well this summer, with Rowan Hausmann, Tess Brown, and Adele Changamire cleaning up those boards!” Baird noted.  “As the girls continue to get taller, the addition of a 1-3-1 defense has been fun to implement and see these girls excel in it. “

The Bulldog finished up the month of June by hosting its annual youth camp for girls of all ages.
