Bulldog boys track scoring W’s

Another week and two more wins for the Becker boys track team, as the Bulldogs’ depth continues to put them atop of the field.

At Big Lake

Last week, the team traveled to Big Lake for a three team meet with the host Hornets and Cambridge-Isanti.  Becker came out on top with 87 points, followed by the Bluejackets (55) and Hornets (42).

Leading the Bulldogs in the meet were Owen Angell and Tarver Schendzielos, as Angell won the 110 Hurdles, 300 Hurdles, and the High Jump (5’10”), and Schendzielos won the 100 m, 200 m , and the Long Jump (20’ 8”).  

Isiah Boyer won the 400 ( 53.3) and was on the winning 4x400 team along with Jon Bender, Evan Hubbard, and Brandt Hemmelgarn with a time of 3:44.

Tanner Felton won the 800 with a time of 2:05 and Hubbard was second with a time of 2:10.  

“Both these guys also ran on the winning 4x800 team along with Parker Spindler and Hemmelgarn with a time of 8:47,” Coach Schmidt said.   

Spindler also finished second in the 3200 with a time of 11:18, while Tristan Kowalkowski had a good meet finishing second in the 200 and third in the 100.

On the field even side, Becker also scored points with a first place finish in the pole vault by Dalton Weisz (11’), and Jacob Williams added a second place at 9’.  Zach Halvorson placed second in the shot with a throw of 39’2” and Saul Kreft took fourth in the discus with a toss of 122’ 4.5” which was a personal record for him.  

Andrew Fisher won the Triple Jump with a leap of 37’8” and Hunter Youngdahl rounded out the scoring with a second place finish in the Long Jump with a leap of 18’10”.

At Zimmerman

On Thursday, the Bulldogs traveled to Zimmerman for what Schmidt called “a cold and rainy” Quad Meet.  The Bulldogs again came out on top with 92 points. followed by Zimmerman, Spectrum, and Two Harbors.

First place finishes went to Owen Angell in the 110 High Hurdles (14.82) and the 300 Intermediate Hurdles 41.24. 

Tanner Felton won the 400 (52.3), Brandt Hemmelgarn won the 800 (2:10), and Parker Spindler won the 1600 ( 5:03).  

In the relays, the team of Schendzielos, Angell, Kowalkowski, and Boyer won the 4x200 (1:35.6), while the 4x400 team of Boyer, Felton, Hemmelgarn, and Hubbard also took first place (3:36) in their event.

In the field events, Angell won the High Jump by clearing  5’8”.

This week, the Bulldogs had meets in Princeton and Pierz.
