The Breakaway Alpine Ski Team closed out an impressive season at the Section 5 Qualifiers on February 3 at Wild Mountain, with a standout performance from local eighth grade skier Mirra Koubsky.
Koubsky, competing in her second year with Breakaway Alpine Team, delivered one of her strongest showings of the season. She narrowly missed qualifying for the Minnesota State High School League state meet by just 1.7 seconds, finishing among the top competitors in a deep field. Her consistency throughout the winter earned her a third-place overall finish in the Central Lakes Conference standings.
The Breakaway Team, coached by Chris Longtin and Charlie Thompson, saw success across its roster.
Will Reisinger a Senior of St. John’s Prep capped his season with a fourth-place conference finish.
Jack Wieber a Senior of Cathedral High School secured 10th overall.
The results mark another year of growth for the Breakaway Alpine Ski Team, which continues to draw talented student-athletes from across the St. Cloud area. Coaches say the strong performances at both the conference and section levels reflect the team’s increasing competitiveness and momentum heading into next season.
