Monday, the boys tennis team had a terrific match against Sartell. Juniors Jacob Lukkarila and Brady Gruehnhagen continued to dominate at #1 & #2 singles.  They also saw really solid play from Caleb Quernemoen  at #3 singles and a huge win at #2 double by Aidan Persons and Eli Scheideman. The guys have worked hard and are starting to get better at the strategies we have been working on in practice.  

 

Tuesday, the boys played their first Granite Ridge match in Mora’s new Wellness Center.  Mora competed well at 4 singles and all of the doubles spots. Coach Bengtson says he was really amazed with the boys and their ability to deal with the tough conditions of a new surface. Lukkarila dominated in singles, cruising to a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

 

On Thursday, the Becker boys tennis team beat Foley at home. They continue to shift their doubles teams and try different combinations in order to put their best line-up together. Coach Bengtson has been impressed with the guys’ attitudes and effort as they work toward their goal of getting better performance with each match. Quernemoen and Persons  are really playing excellent at #1 doubles - they are communicating and moving well together, leading to more points and a stronger dynamic.

 

Becker is now 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the Granite Ridge Conference.

 

Saturday they will travel to Alexandria for a tournament.
