Although they fought hard this week, the Bulldogs Boys Soccer team ended their season this week with a 3-14 record.
The 16th ranked Bulldogs started section play on Monday, hosting the first round of sections and beating 17th ranked Hutchinson 2-0 in the play-in game. Junior Max Rositas was in top form, scoring both goals in the match.
Tuesday the team traveled to Waconia, the number one seed in the section. The Bulldogs went into the game with a plan to stay strong on defense and hold out for a counter, set piece or penalty to score against their opponents.
At half the score was 2-0 in favor of Waconia. Although the Bulldogs couldn’t hold out or develop much offense, the team did hold their opponents to three goals.
“We knew whom we were facing and we were hoping to hold out for penalties at the end,” said Coach Nick Crowley. “That didn’t pan out, but I’m very proud of the way the boys played, holding a number one seed to only three goals. Senior Captain Parker Lahr had some great saves to keep it that way, and the defense line kept it close.”
At the end of the season Max Rositas led the team in goals and Senior Captain Kyle Cleaver led in assists. Parker Lahr had two shutouts on the season. The Bulldogs will graduate seven seniors, but six freshman started on the varsity team throughout the season.
“It was a different year than last year,” said Crowley. “Injuries hurt us, but I think a lot of the team got some valuable experience. Looking forward to next season and building on what we started with the young guys.
