Boys Track @ Albany
The Bulldog boys track team competed in a five-team meet at Albany last Friday.

“It was the first really nice outdoor track meet we have had this year so we had some really good times and great field events,” said Head Coach Paul Schmidt.

Austin Hemmelgarn had a nice meet, culminating with a first place finish in the 200M with a time of 24.14. Hemmelgarn  was  also second in the 100M with a time of 11.91 and he was also part of the winning 4x200M team along with Kevin Andres, Matt Davalos and Jordan Gruenes.  They ran a time of 1:35.64.

MaKarrall had a strong meet by also finishing second in the long jump with a leap of 16'11.25".  MaKarrall was also part of the 4x800 meter relay team that continues to improve and close in on a school record.  Running against a very strong Little Falls team, which is one of the top teams in the state, the Bulldogs hung around for a while and helped run their best time of 8:46.48.

Other members on the relay team included Johnathan Novak, Justin Kringler and Sam Ricker.  Ricker also finished second in the 1600M with a great time of 4:44.69.

David Myers continues to impress Schmidt as a ninth grader by finishing first in the 300M hurdles and second in the 110M high hurdles with times of 44.39 and 17.36.  Both times were personal bests for Myers.

On the field event side of the event, there were some excellent performances with William Schendel finishing first in the pole vault at 10' clear and second in the high jump at 5'4". He also took fourth in the triple jump with a 36'9".

Boys Track @ Mora
Tuesday, the team traveled to Mora where the weather was more of a factor on a cool, cloudy day. The rain held off until the end of the meet and Becker still had some outstanding performances.
The Bulldogs won the meet with 98 points.  Second place went to Mora (76) followed by Zimmerman (49) and St. Cloud Cathedral (49).

The Becker 4x800 team of Novak, Kringle, MaKarrall and Ricker came ever-so-close to gaining that school record that they have been chasing.  Their second place finish of 8:40.98 was less than one second off.

With a few missing  and injured athletes, Schmidt moved a few people around and ran some different relays, which gave some of his younger athletes a chance to participate in more events.

Thom had a nice meet, winning both the shot put and discus with throws of 44' 1" and 116' 7".  Nick Radunz was a close second in the discus with a toss of 116' and Brady Roesler was fourth in shot put with a throw of 38'10".

The jumping events again were an asset for Becker with Brady Scheeley winning the triple jump with a leap of 39' 5.25" and Ethan Holm and Schendel finished fourth and fifth.

In the pole vault, it was Schendel winning in a rain soaked event by clearing 9'6" and Holm was fifth at 8'6".

The high jump saw Schendel place second with a 5'4" jump and in the long jump, Scheeley was fourth with a 17'8" jump.

The 4x400M team finished first again with a time of 3:42.23.  Team members were Andres, Ricker, MaKarall and Davalos.

Davalos won the 300M hurdles with a time of 42.96 and Andres won the 400M with a time of 52.41. Ricker was second in the mile with a time of 4:46.64 and MaKarrall was third in the 800M with a 2:09.28, just ahead of teammate Kringle with a 2:12.64, which was good for fourth place.

Hemmelgarn continues to have strong performances, as he pulled in a first place finish in the 200M at 23.34 and a second place finish in the 100M at 11.53.  Cody Johnson ran a great race and finished second in the 200M with a time of 24.46.
