Boys’ Lacrosse Showing Promise

This Thursday, the Becker Bulldogs lost a tough match against the St. Michael Albertville team.
 
The boys played tough in the first half against a dominant Knights team 8-2 then lost Junior Goalie AJ Buntrock to an injury for the duration of the game. Becker gave it their all and hope to have a better outcome next time.
 
Becker boys’ lacrosse team will go on the road to face St. Cloud at Husky Stadium Friday night.  
 
Becker 14, Sartell-Sauk Rapids 8
 
On Monday, Sartell started the game fast scoring in the first few seconds of the game but Becker recovered and traded goals with Sartell ending up in a 6-6 tie at halftime. 
 
The Bulldogs benefited from a Sartell penalty, starting the second half with a man up advantage.   
 
Becker’s defense stiffened for the duration of the game only giving up 2 more goals and their offense sparked back to life putting 8 balls past the Sartell goaltender. 
 
Goalie AJ Buntrock had another outstanding performance with 11 saves on the night. Top scorers were Freshman Jacob Eich and Junior Corbin Kollar with 3 goals each.
 
Senior captain Blake Angell topped the team with 4 assists and Freshman Calvin Fritsch hustled for a team leading 9  ground balls as well as winning 14 of 24 face offs for the night.  
 
Becker 17, Hutchinson 0 
 
This past Friday, May 4th was Becker’s first home game of the season-a dominating win over Hutchinson.  Becker’s defense was led by Junior Goalie A.J. Buntrock and Junior Captain Kaj Fritsch recorded their first shut-out of the season. 
 
The boys’ offense was awakened by the play of 5 freshmen; two of whom were getting their first start of the year and two who were seeing their very first varsity action of the season. 
 
The five freshmen were led by the outstanding performance of Nate Kerzman who had 3 goals, 5 assists and scooped up a team leading 9 ground balls.
 
Three freshmen recorded hat tricks with 3 goals each; Ethan Wilson, Calvin Fritsch and the previously mentioned Kerzman.
