Boys Golf Season Ends At Sections

Kyle Haag and Sam LeBine of St. Cloud Cathedral and Rocori’s Nicholas Demuth tied for fifth (160) and are among the individuals that are advancing to the state tournament after the second day of the Section 6-2A meet at Blackberry Ridge Golf Course.

Becker finished in third place and had no individuals advance.

“Tough two days for us,” said Head Coach Dan Olson.  “Monday, we played in 20mph winds and gusts over 30mph.  We limped in with a 347 which was good enough to get us to day two.”

Olson said day two’s weather conditions were much better and his team played a little better, finishing with a 330.

Becker eighth-grader Alex Stanz led the Bulldogs with a two-day total of 168. He was followed by Adam Schug (169), Michael Sogard (169), Jackson Fluck (171) and Brandon Abrahamson (186).

Sauk Centre’s Carter Kranz (156) and Albany’s David Schneider (162) are the other individuals advancing to the state tournament.

Staples-Motley shot a 628 and advanced to the state tournament as the top team in 6-2A. Staples-Motley was led by Andrew Israelson, who was the medalist with a 147.

“Overall, we had a very good season,” said Olson.  “Second place in the conference and a third place finish in our section.  The good thing is that we do not lose any players and I will have my section team back next year.”
