Boys Fall To 10 13 With 2 Games Left

 

The Becker boys basketball team went 1-2 this week to drop their season record to 10-13 with two games left.

Becker 82, 

North Branch 46

Last Friday, the Bulldogs hosted the North Branch Vikings and won rather handily.

Becker jumped out to a quick lead and never took their foot off the gas. By halftime, the home team was up 47-17 and cruising to a big win at home.

Nick Knute (16 points) and Cade Callahan (15 points) helped the Bulldogs in the onslaught. Becker had 13 players make the scoresheet while the Vikings had just seven.

Bemidji 85, Becker 80

Monday, the Bulldogs hosted Bemidji and lost by five.

Gavin Luksik (23 points) and Colten Jensen (21 points) led the Lumberjacks to victory. Becker got double-digit scoring from Knute (19), Mittelstaedt (14), Seavert (12) and Hietala (11) in the loss.

Becker found themselves down by 11 heading into halftime and made a valiant attempt at stealing the game when they outscored Bemidji 46-40 in the final frame. However, the deficit was too much to overcome and Becker fell by five at home.

Magic 82, Bulldogs 70

In Becker’s second-to-the last home regular season game of the year, the Magic of Monticello appeared and  dropped a “W” on the Bulldogs on Becker’s home court Tuesday.

Austin Wetter was the Magic culprit as he tallied 22 points for the winning team. He had help from Carson Kolles (20 points), Wyatt Sawatzke (11) and Jacob Keller (11).

Becker was led by Mittelstaedt, who had 21 points in the loss.

Monticello scoring: Wetter 22, Kolles 20, Sawatzke 11, Keller 11, Brady Thompson 6,  Lucas Johnson 5, Calvin Schmitz 3, Nick McNaughton 2, Gus Hansgleben 2.

The Bulldogs hosted Princeton Friday night, then hit the road the following Friday to close out the regular season against Cambridge-Isanti.
