Boys Cross Country Take 7th And 3rd

Boys Cross Country participated and placed 7th of 14 in the Bertram Regional Park in Monticello last Saturday.

In the varsity race Justin Kringler was recognized as he had dropped his PR, earned a top 25 spot in the race, and recognized as Becker Varsity athlete of the meet.  Coach Dustin Weege states,”Kringler again demonstrates the power of putting in summer miles.” as he put in well over 200 miles.

Basil Ricker achieved 12th place with his career best at 17:35.  His time was a one second improvement from his best performance last season.  His brother Sam Ricker crossed the finish line in his debut cross country race at 18:31.

Luke Pappenfus was the fourth Becker runner to cross the finish line at 18:49.  Shortly followed by Cade Stommes, who improved his PR by 42 seconds.  Bennett Edling finished four seconds behind Stommes and David Myres finished up the bulldog lineup.

The JV team placed third and finished behind the teams of Sartell and STMA, who won the varsity races.  The team was led by Karel, Lahr, Johnson, Aaron Gregory and Devin Riley.  They held the five best Becker JV race times in meet and all PR’d.

The boys performed well in the meet and experienced a large number of improvements in their 5k times.  Both freshman Lukas Karel and sophomore Adrian Johnson shaved a minute off their time.

Lukas Karel’s marked improvement caught the eye of officials that recognized his performance with the Becker JV “athlete of the meet” award.

The Bulldogs traveled to Little Falls Thursday, for the next meet before the big varsity meets for the UofM Roy Griak Invitational.
