Boys Bb Teams Celebrate 2019 Season

 
The Becker Bulldog boys basketball team held their season-ending banquet Monday night and handed out much-deserved awards.
 
The boys finished the regular season with a 10-15 record and were knocked out of the Section 5AAA playoffs by Big Lake  March 5.
 
Becker’s wins came against Rogers, Cathedral, Hutchinson, Dassel-Cokato, Milaca (2x), Little Falls, Mora, Foley and Willmar. 
 
Their losses came at the hands of Big Lake (2x), Princeton, Monticello, Albany (2x), Minneapolis Roosevelt, STMA, Delano, Foley, Rocori, Zimmerman (2x),  Alexandria, Cathedral and Waconia.
 
They had one three-game win streak and two, two-game win streaks.
 
Sam Ricker led the team in scoring with 216 points. He also averaged 14.4 points per game, a team high. Nick Mittelsteadt was the second leading scorer with 159 points and Brandon Gustafson had 144. The rest of the team had scoring from Cade Callahan (140 points), Gabe Lindbom (123), Carter Hietala (47), Sam Koubsky (28), Nick Knute (22), Basil Ricker (21), Cole Koste (8), Cameron Fischer (2) and James Schafer (2).
 
All-conference awards went to Gustafson and Sam Ricker. All-conference honorable mention went to Lindbom.
 
Gustafson was named the team MVP. Sam Ricker was named offense and defense MVP. Most improved went to Lindbom. Most dedicated was awarded to Mittelsteadt and best teammate went to Gustafson.
 
Scholar athlete was Hietala.
 
All-conference academic awards were handed out to  Gustafson, Sam Ricker, Koubsky, Callahan, Lindbom, Mittelsteadt, Hietala, Knute and Shaylyn Quernemoen (manager). Varsity letter winners were Gustafson,  Sam Ricker, Basil Ricker, Koubsky, Schafer, Callahan, Lindbom, Mittelsteadt, Hietala, Knute, Brooke VenBerg (manager) and Shaylyn Quernemoen (manager).
 
JV team awards were also presented. For offense MVP, Eric Seavert received the award. The defensive MVP award went to Ben Strot. Most improved went to Landen Goebel. Most dedicated to Nick Knute and best teammate to Carter Callahan.
