Boys Bb Team Wins Twice, Improves To 8 4

The Becker boys basketball team improved to 8-4 with their fifth and sixth straight wins — beating Big Lake Tuesday and North Branch Thursday.

Becker 52, Big Lake 47

The Bulldogs traveled cross town to take on the Hornets Tuesday in a Mississippi 8 Conference match-up. Behind Nick Mittelstaedt’s 23 points, the visitors exited the arena with a five-point win.

Becker jumped out to an early lead and coasted into halftime after giving up just 17 points. The Hornets rebounded on the final frame and outscored the Bulldogs 30-27, but couldn’t overcome the deficit.

Cade Callahan finished with nine points while Josh Fobbe notched five as well as Carter Hietala. Carter Callahan had four, Cam Fischer had three and Nick Knute 3 to round out the scoring.

For Big Lake, Wyatt Windhorst tallied 19 points to lead the team. Peyton McConville recorded 13 while Brady Josewski had 7 and Mitchell Spanier and Alec Morehead each had 4.

Becker 78, North Branch 71

Thursday, the Bulldogs hit the road for North Branch and escaped with a seven-point win on the road.
