Boys Bb Team Loses 2 To Fall To 8 6

After notching six straight wins in the last month, the Becker boys basketball team had a hiccup this week — falling to  Monticello and Princeton to drop to 8-6.

Magic 71, Bulldogs 41

It was a rough one Tuesday as the Bulldogs traveled to Monticello to take on the average (6-6) Magic. Austin Wetter drenched the scoreboard with 20 points, five rebounds, one assist, three steals and one blocked shot.

Becker’s Nick Mittelstaedt was again the top scorer for Becker, but he managed just 13 points in the loss. Nick Knute reached double-digit scoring with 11, but the rest of the ensemble averaged around three.

Becker scoring: Mittelstaedt 13, Knute 11, Carter Hietala 6, Cade Callahan 3,  Cole Koste 2, Zach Stanz 2, Jeremy Laugen 2, Brady Paumen 2.

Magic scoring: Wetter 20, Brady Thompson 11, Carson Kolles 10, Nick McNaughton 8, Gus Hansgleben 7, Calvin Schmitz 6, Jacob Keller 3, Aaron Puppe 3, Riley Erb 2, Wyatt Sawatzke 1.

Tigers 97, Bulldogs 56

On another rough night Thursday, the Bulldogs fell behind early and the 12-3 Tigers easily clawed to victory by 41.

Princeton had four double-digit scorers and were led by Jake Bebeau with 20. Also adding to the win were Cody Miller (19), Kody Alickson (16) and Callahan O’Neil (14).

Mittelstaedt tallied 11 for the Bulldogs and was joined in double-digit scoring by Hietala (10) and Cade Callahan (10).

After jumping out to a 48-26 lead by halftime, the Tigers didn’t just put the game in cruise control but kept pressing and shooting and scoring. It was easy pickings for the conference-leading Tigers who are averaging 84 points a game.
