Boys Bb Team Beats Holy Family In Granite Classic

In last weekend’s Granite City Classic tournament in St. Cloud, the Becker boys basketball team knocked off Holy Family, 71-65 to improve to 3-4.

The boys were scheduled to play Mahtomedi Saturday, but the game was cancelled at the last minute.

Nick Mittelstaedt continued his dominance on the scoring sheet as he led all scorers with 27 points. He also had six assists and one steal.

The first half was dead even as both teams went up and down the court sinking baskets. By halftime, the score was knotted at 33.

The Bulldogs came out of the lockerroom refreshed and confident and quickly put up a lead that they held onto to the end. Josh Fobbe had a terrific game, scoring 14 points while pulling down seven rebounds and assisting on one basket.

Cade Callahan also had a nice game, scoring 14 points with four rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Holy Family was led by Nick Hendler who had 16 points.

Holy Family scoring:

Hendler 16, Seth Thompson 14, David Torborg 13, Noah Seck 11, Jake Kirsch 6, Sam McNulty 2, Rory Johnson 2 and Gavin Lund 1.
