DAVID MYRES (R) shot off the starting line Thursday of the 55M high hurdles event in which he won in a time of 8.23 seconds. Myres is undefeated in this event for 2018.
JULIA BENGTSON tied for third in the high jump.
ALLI HENDRICKSON had a great event, winning the 1600M and taking second in the high jump. In the 4x800M (above) Hendrickson’s foursome finished second.

Boys And Girls Track Teams Take First At Home

The Becker boys and girls track team held a GRC meet indoors with four other teams Thursday afternoon. Both teams captured first place. Boys Track The boys 4x400 team of Kevin Andres, Jordan Gruenes, Austin Hemmelgarn and Sidney Boros ran a great indoor time of 3:31.27 to take first place.   
 
“That time is one of the fastest indoor 4x400 times I have ever seen,” said Head Coach Paul Schmidt.  
 
The foursome also captured first place in the 4x200M with an excellent time of 1:33.99.  
 
“That was the first time we have ran that group in the 4x200 and they ran very well,” said Schmidt.  
 
Gruenes rounded out his meet with a third, first place finish on the 4x800 relay which also included Jonathan Novak, Noah Fakhreddine and Justin Kringler. Their time was 8:53.  
 
On the individual side, Kringler won the 800M with a time of 2:10.2. Sam Ricker won the 1600M with a great time of 4:42.92, as well as the 1000M with a time of 2:52.8. 
 
Kevin Andres won the 400M with a time of 53.42 and Sydney Boros won the 200M with a time of 23.17.  
 
David Myres was first in the 55M hurdles, where he remains undefeated this year with a time of 8.23 seconds. Austin Hemmelgarn was a first place finisher in the 55M dash with a time of 6.71 seconds.  Lukas Karel had a nice race, finishing second in the 1000 meter event with a time of 3:02.33.
 
On the field event side, Ethan Holm had a great meet, winning the pole vault event with a 10-foot vault and placing second in the long jump with a personal best of 18'2.75".
 
He also finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 39' 7".   
 
Nick Radunz — back from the injured reserve list — placed second in the shot put with a toss of 40' 4.5".  
 
Becker finished with 100.5 points.  St. Cloud Cathedral was second with 51, Albany third with 50, Little Falls had 26.5 and St. Cloud Christian finished with 18.
 
Girls Track
The girls had a good meet Thursday, finishing with six first place titles.  They were Cassidy Pleoger in the 200M, Julia Bengtson in the 800M, Abby Nelson in the 1000M, Alli Hendrickson in the 1600M, and two relays — the 4x200M (Cassidy Pleoger, Kayden Westin, Abby Maruska and Miranda O'Brien) and the 4x800M (Alyssa Gruenes, Victoria Kolbinger, Julia Bengtson and Dani Nuest).
 
“We saw a good amount of scoring across the board in places one thru five which helps to pick up valuable team points,” said Head Coach Trish Reimer-Kealy.
 
Along with winning the 200M (28.36), Pleoger also placed second in the 55M (7.85). 
 
In the 55M hurdles, O'Brien placed third (9.74) and Callie Doucette fifth (9.85).
 
Hendrickson won the 1600M in 5:45.7 with Victoria Kolbinger coming in second (5:46.62) and Maddie McDonald took fourth (6:53.78).  Arin Hendrickson (7:00.05) would have been fifth but rules only allow three runners per team  to score.
 
Keeley Holm led Becker’s 400M runners, placing second (67.44) followed by Jessica Gruenes in third (68.01) and Ayla Brown in fifth (68.22).
 
Bengtson won the 800M with a time of 2:30.13. It was a good race with Bengtson pacing seventh grader Dani Nuest.  Both girls ran very well with Nuest (2:32.99) getting edged out at the finish to place third behind Albany's Kristine Kaltoff (2:32.63).
 
In the 200M, the Lady Bulldogs had Cassidy Pleoger in first (28.36) and Sydney Stommes placed fourth.
 
Becker had three girls place in the 1000M. It was won by Abby Nelson (3:50.99) with Whitney Schug taking second (3:54.99) and Callie Doucette taking fourth (4:05.43).
 
The girls’ field events saw Madi Kerzman placing second in the shot put event with a fine mark of 35'2 .5 and McKenna Edling in fourth (32'. 1/2).
 
Triple jump had three Becker girls place. Cienna Pleoger took third (31'7) while Keeley Holm and Abby Maruska tied for fifth with a jump of 29'7 1/2".
 
In the long jump, Cienna Pleoger placed fourth (14'8 1/2").
 
High jump saw second place go to Alli Hendrickson (4'8") and third (tie) to Bengtson (4'6").
 
Sydney Stommes placed fourth in the pole vault, going 6'6".
 
The relays had Becker taking first in the 4x800M (A. Gruenes, V. Kolbinger, J. Bengtson and D. Nuest) with a time of 10:41.3 and the second place team also was from Becker (A. Nelson, W. Shug, Alli Hendrickson and Lexi Dehmer) with a time of 10:53.55.
 
4x200M relay (Cassidy Pleoger, Kayden Westin, Abby Maruska and Miranda O'Brien) was first in a time of 1:55.03.
 
4x100M relay (Madi Pleoger, Ani Dehmer, Cienna Pleoger, Callie Doucette) was third (58.24).
 
The 4x400M relay (Julia Bengtson, Kayden Westin, Miranda O'Brien and Jessica Gruenes) was second in 4:35.95.
 
“All in all, a very good meet and we look forward to hopefully getting some outdoor meets soon,” said Reimer-Kealy.
