The Big Lake boys soccer team won a game and tied another in their last four games.
Vs. Sauk Rapids
Last Saturday, the Hornets came from behind to get a tie at Sauk Rapids. The Storm outscored Big Lake 3-2 in the first half. But the Hornets got the tying goal after the break.
Tamren Acosta led the team with two goals and an assist. Benjamin Ziembo scored Big Lake’s other goal and Landon Priest had an assist.
Tyler Huver played the entire game in net and had 10 saves.
Vs. Tigers
Last Thursday, Big Lake lost to the top team in the conference, Princeton 2-0. The Tigers are 8-1-2 on the season.
The Hornets had trouble getting their offense going and managed just one good shot on goal.
Tyler Huver played goalkeeper for 65 minutes and allowed two goals. He had 11 saves. Caleb Olson had two saves in 15 minutes in goal.
Vs. Spectrum
Big Lake beat Spectrum, 5-1 on Sept. 14.
The Hornets got on the board early, with Lucas Dumont scoring with an assist from Acosta. Later in the first half, Acosta scored an unassisted goal. Then he assisted on a goal by Kofi Jyamerah to make the score 3-0 at the half.
Jyamerah got his second goal early in the second half, assisted by Acosta. Moments later, Acosta scored again with an assist by Elijah Chastain for a 5-0 lead.
Spectrum got the final goal of the game to break the shutout.
Huver allowed a goal and had 13 saves in net.
Vs. Monticello
Two days earlier the Hornets fell to Monticello, 5-0. The Magic is second in the conference and have just one loss in 10 games.
Huver had a busy game in net, turning away 14 attempts. The Hornets had five shots on goal.
The Hornets are 1-3-1 in the conference and 4-5-2 overall. They had games against St. Francis and Becker this past week, results next week. They play at Chisago Lakes Monday and Watertown-Mayer Thursday.
