The 2025 Big Lake varsity soccer season for the boys and girls ended last week in the first round of the Section 6AA playoffs.

Boys Squad

The boys lost to #2-ranked Orono, 5-1 on Oct. 7. Orono opened a 2-0 lead in the first half, then added three more goals after the break.

The only score from the Hornets came in the second half on a goal by Elijah Chastain, assisted by Kofi Gyamerah. Goalkeeper Caleb Olson had a busy night with 20 saves.

The Hornets finished the season, 2-12-3.

Girls Squad

The girls also lost their section game to Delano, 2-0 at home. The Hornets had scoring chances throughout the game but couldn’t get one past the Delano goalkeeper.

The Tigers got their first goal on a deflection off a free kick at 12:50 into the game. They added their second goal on a rebound at 23:48, and that 2-0 score held the rest of the way.

The girls finished the season with a record of 9-5-3.
