Big Lake volleyball drops two at home

The Hornets were defeated 3-0 last week by the visiting Hutchinson Tigers.

Ashley Fitzgibbons and Kamryn Tschritter were once again responsible for distributing the ball around. Both ended with nine set assists, while Tschritter added four digs and Fitzgibbons had three of her own.

On the receiving end of all those set assists was the trio of Emma Nagorski, Jazlynn Dimpka, and Marissa Reed. Nagorski finished with eight kills and five digs, Dimpka had six kills, and Reed posted four kills with 11 digs.

The Hornets lost their conference opener to the North Branch Vikings by a score of 3-1.

Big Lake started strong by taking the first set 25-21 but failed to take another. The Vikings won the next three sets 25-16, 25-17, and 25-17.

The volleyball team will continue with their conference schedule when they travel to Princeton this Thursday to take on the Tigers. Then they return home for two games next Monday and Tuesday. First is a non-conference contest against Sauk Rapids-Rice before taking on Zimmerman Tuesday in another conference game.
