The Hornet volleyball team defeated Robbinsdale Cooper in their regular season finale on Tuesday. It was a dominant, three-set win for the Hornets. 

After winning the opening set by the narrowest of margins, 25-23, the last two sets were never in doubt. The Hornets won 25-13 and 25-8 to close out the regular season with a victory. 

On Saturday, Oct. 12, Big Lake traveled to Bloomington Jefferson High School for four games at their tournament. The team finished 2-2, with a pair of victories over larger 4A schools. Theu dropped their opening match 2-0 to Mound Westonka but bounced back quickly with wins over Coon Rapids 2-0 and Andover 2-1. The day ended with a 2-0 loss to Providence Academy. 

Last Thursday, the team was defeated by Cambridge-Isanti in their last conference game of the season. Big Lake was able to take a 2-1 lead but couldn’t hold on and lost in five sets. 

The Hornets will now wait until seeding is done for Section 5AAA to find out their first-round opponent. That game will take place Wednesday at the higher seed.
