The Hornet girls’ basketball team welcomed conference foe Monticello to town on Tuesday and lost 88-23. The Magic are ranked #1 in the state for Class AAA, with a record of 22-0.

On Saturday, Big Lake traveled to Cambridge-Isanti and lost 70-49. The Hornets were led in scoring by Greta Layton with 19 points, and right behind her was Ashley Fitzgibbons with 18. Other contributors were Shiloh Elliott with five, and Olivia O’Brien and Alexa Parks with four each.

Last Thursday, the Hornets lost on the road at St. Francis 62-28.

The regular season is winding down for the Hornets with only four games remaining before the playoffs. Three of those games will come this week starting with the team’s final home game on Thursday against Spectrum. That game will also serve as the team’s Senior Night. Then the Hornets will hit the road Saturday for a game against Duluth Denfeld and then next Tuesday at Becker.
