Big Lake flag football concludes 1st season

The Hornets girls flag football team had their season end in the opening round of the playoffs during their inaugural season in Minnesota. The team was plagued by turnovers in a 31-25 loss to Sartell.

On offense, three different Hornets completed passes including Allie Lu, Katie Chaffee, and Amara Obia. Chaffee was the team’s leading passer with eight completions, 47 yards and a touchdown. Obia also threw a touchdown as well. The team struggled to get anything going on the ground, rushing for just 27 yards on seven attempts. Shiloh Elliott led the team with 13 yards rushing. She was also the team’s leading receiver with five catches for 34 yards. But it was Tatum White who caught both touchdowns for the Hornets. She finished with eight catches and 32 yards to go with her two scores.

Defensively, Lu and Hailey Scheerz led the team with six flag pulls each. Lu and Alayna Boe each had an interception.

Big Lake finishes the season with an overall record of 3-6.
