The Hornet volleyball team had their season end in the Section 5-AAA Semifinals last Friday in Monticello. 

After defeating Robbinsdale Cooper in their opening matchup, they fell to conference foe Zimmerman by a score of 3-1. This was the third straight year that Big Lake and Zimmerman have squared off in the semifinal round. 

The team dominated the quarterfinal round with a 3-0 victory over the visiting Hawks. The result was never in doubt as the team won 25-9, 25-20, and 25-15 to complete the opening round sweep. 

Zimmerman took the opening set 25-19, but the Hornets came right back to tie things at one game apiece with a 25-18 victory in set two. However, from then on it was all Thunder. The opponents won set three by a score of 25-9 and then closed out the match in set four with a 25-18 win. 

Big Lake advanced to the semifinal round for the fourth consecutive season and ends the year with a 13-15 record.
