The Becker Lady Bulldog basketball team captured two more wins this past week, beating Foley last Friday, then Milaca Tuesday to improve to 15-2.
Sophomore Julia Bengtson scored her 1,000th point Tuesday against Milaca.
Becker 72, Foley 64
In a game just a few weeks ago looking like a major matchup, the Bulldogs caught the Falcons on a two-game skid and made it a three-game skid with an eight-point win.
Up until a week ago, the Foley Falcons were undefeated (11-0) heading into a game against Milaca. Becker was sitting at 11-2 at the time and Friday’s game was looking to be a big test for the young Bulldogs.
However, Foley lost that Friday night game to Milaca, then lost their next game to Zimmerman to fall to 11-2 — with Becker waiting in the wings.
Becker jumped out to a 28-6 lead before Foley stormed back to make it a one-point deficit. But that seemed to be all the charge the Falcons had in them.
Becker went on a run to seal the game following Megan Gamble's “and one” clutch play that was the turning point.
Bengtson led Becker with 19 points and seven assists. Adeline Kent continued her excellent play with 18 points, four steals and four rebounds. Courtney Nuest had a double-double, with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Madison Peschl had 26 points and six rebounds for Foley. Casey Teff added 16 points and seven rebounds.
Becker shot 46% to Foley's 41%. Becker committed 17 turnovers to Foley's 22.
Becker scoring: Bengtson 19, Kent 18, Courtney Nuest 12, Gamble 12, Lindquist 8 and Brown 3.
Foley scoring: Peschl 26, Callie Teff 16, Alaina Hageman 8, McKenna Gross 7, Landrie Walz 5 and Jayden Hermanson 2.
Becker 86, Milaca 48
The Bulldogs defeated the Milaca Wolves 86-48 Tuesday Night in Becker.
Bengtson, a sophomore, scored her 1000th point for her career.
“Jules has led our team in scoring the last three years,” said Head Coach Dan Baird. “Her leadership this year has been huge for our squad, and it goes way beyond scoring points.”
Bengtson scored 27 points for the evening to go with seven rebounds, five assists and seven steals for a very high Krossover Efficiency Rating of 37.
Courtney Nuest added 17 points and six rebounds. Kent had 15 points and four steals.
Milaca was led in scoring by Miranda Broberg's 16 points.
Becker dominated Milaca on the boards for a 44-25 advantage in rebounds. Becker shot 50% from the field to Milaca's 39%. Becker only had 11 turnovers to Milaca's 25.
Becker scoring: Bengtson 27, Courtney Nuest 17, Kent 15, Gamble 8, Masog 7, Dani Nuest 5, Lindquist 4, Yoerg 2 and Goebel 1.
Milaca scoring: Broberg 16, Olivia Westling 11, Jerica Ploeger 10, Emylee Kohlgraf 4, Grace Gerking 4, Jackie Kragt 2 and Jalen Taylor 1.
