The Becker Youth Wrestling team showcased their determination and skill at the MN/USA Folkstyle State Tournament in Rochester this past weekend.
Competing against some of the best young wrestlers in the state, the team battled hard, finishing with an overall record of 3-3.
Becker went 2-2 in pool play, securing wins against Zimmerman (61-39) and Rosemount (61-21) while facing tough losses against Lakeville (54-40) and Kasson-Mantorville (58-24). Their performance earned them a spot in the Silver Division, where they defeated Westfield 55-32 before falling to Forest Lake 51-42, securing a second-place finish in their bracket.
Several Becker wrestlers stood out with impressive individual performances. Liam Hamacher, Elliot Johnson, Kegan Becker and Ryan Malikowski each went undefeated on the day, finishing with a perfect 6-0 record. Easton Hamacher also had a strong showing, going 5-1.
The tournament carried extra meaning for the Becker team as they wrestled in honor of Reggie Malikowski, father of Ryan Malikowski, who unexpectedly passed away last Friday. Ryan’s undefeated performance was especially inspiring as he competed with heart and resilience in his father’s memory.
