Nicolas, Kujawa win state titles in individual tournament

The Becker wrestling team competed in the state meet Feb. 27th where they captured third place. They wrestled Watertown-Mayer, Simley, and Marshall and beat two out of the three teams.

Landen Kujawa (145) took home his first state wrestling title after beating four of his opponents through the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals of individual tournament play  on Friday. Kaden Nicolas (152) took home his second wrestling state title after he beat out all four of his opponents.

Becker vs. Watertown-Mayer

Rylan Kujawa (114) beat his opponent in a 5-3 decision. Landen Kujawa (145) won his match in a 22-6 technical fall. Brayden Boots (152) took out his opponent in a 8-2 decision. Kaden Nicolas (160) destroyed his competition in a third round fall which earned him six team points. Owen Angell (189) also won his match by pin. Lance Lysdal (285) took out his opponent in a 4-1 decision. Final score was Watertown-Mayer 32 - Becker 26

Becker vs. Simley

Boston Kuschel (121) won his match by a second round fall. Nolan Jurek (127) took out his opponent in a 9-7 decision. Bennett Kujawa (139) beat his opponent in a 5-4 decision. Brayden Boots (145) won his match by a 15-0 technical fall. Kaden Nicolas (160) beat his opponent by a 19-4 technical fall. Jake Rosenow (172) took out his opponent in a 9-6 decision. Aiden Golley (215) won his match in a 3-2 UTB. Final score was Becker 28 - Simley 26.

Becker vs. Marshall

Jacob Williams (107) beat his opponent in a 8-2 decision. Both Boston Kuschel (121) and Tyler Hall (133) destroyed their competition in first round falls and collectivity gave the team 12 points. Bennett Kujawa (139) won his match by a 7-4 decision. Landen Kujawa (145) took out his opponent in a second round fall. Brayden Boots (152) won his match by a 5-4 decision. Kaden Nicolas (160) took out his opponent in a 21-5 technical fall. Owen Angell (172) beat his opponent in a first round fall. Final score was Becker 38 - Marshall 25.

Individual Tourney

On Fri., Feb. 28, Becker wrestlers competed in the individual state meet. 

Brayden Boots (160AA) lost in the championship round one against an opponent from Thief River Falls. Nolan Jurek (127AA) suffered the same fate by losing in the championship round one against an opponent from Watertown-Mayer. Landen Kujawa (145AA) beat his four opponents to gain a state title. Owen Angell (172AA) took fifth place after beating three out of his five opponents. Boston Kuschel (121AA) took third place after beating four out of five of his opponents. Kaden Nicolas (152AA) took home his second wrestling state title after he beat out all four of his opponents. Bennett Kujawa (133AA) won three out of his five matches.
