By Susana Kuehne Contributing Writer

STMA 10 Becker 7

Thursday, the girls’ lacrosse game started with St. Michael Albertville getting a ball past Becker's goalie three minutes into the game. Becker tied the game up when Rachel Eisenreich's bounce shot went past the STMA goalie. STMA then responded with 2 quick goals at 16:49 and 16:17. Followed by a third two minutes later.

Macy Eigen got Becker scoring again with a nice high shot over the goalies shoulder, and then STMA scored 2 more. With just over 4 minutes left, Kinsley Hurt broke through the STMA defense and scored.

Reilly Cencer gave new life to the Bulldogs with her buzzer beating goal at the end of the first half. Half time score was Becker 4 and STMA 7. Meanwhile, second half started with Allison Zimmer getting a goal early on.

STMA scored twice 5 -9 and started to stall. Afterwards, Becker's defense got the ball and with a nice combination of passes and footwork got the ball to Kinsley Hurt for her second goal with 6:24 seconds left. The momentum was shifting to Becker’s favor.   6-9
Bria Amundson scored with 5:35 left in the game. That score made winning a possibility. 9-7. The pressure was on, but STMA was able to kill the clock and with only seconds left scored their last goal.

“Everyone thought we could have won this game. Especially at half time, even though we were down we thought we could come back,” said Abby Becker (11th grade).

Coach Hugh Hovde commented on his thoughts. "The girls played hard. This team plays the whole game without let up right to the final buzzer. A few too many mistakes determined the outcome of this game"

Scoring for Becker was as follows: Reilly Cencer 1, Allison Zimmer 1, Macy Eigen 1, Rachel Eisenreich 1, Bria Amundson 1, and Kinsley Hurt 2.

Becker again scored the first 3 goals before CL scored their next goal.

"It was nice to get our first win,” said Jamie Ulsby (12th grade defense).

"The scoring was spread out between all the attacks and middies which indicates we're pretty balanced on the offensive side,” stated Coach Hugh Hovde.
