Becker Gymnasts Win 3 Out of 4 Meets

The Becker gymnastics team traveled to Monticello Jan. 30,  which wound up being one of their most competitive meets of the season.

Unfortunately during warm ups, all-arounder Chloe Spear went down with a knee injury and was pronounced out for the remainder of the season.

With a quick turn around, Becker had to fill all four positions that Spear participated in.

“I am really proud of the way everyone on the team stepped up and was ready to give it their best,”  said Coach Jen Harmoning.

Even though the gymnasts tried their hardest, it was not enough to defeat Monticello which is the #2 ranked team in class A. The final score was Becker 140.225 and Monticello 144.325.

The best performance of the night for Becker was vault with a season high score. Karli Kirk took first place with a score of 9.4 and Maggie Graning took second with a 9.3 score. Fifth place went to Alyse Denne with a 9.05 score. With her new vault performance, Harper Miller aided in the team score by producing 8.85 points and a sixth place finish.

Kirk and Graning continued to impress the judges with their third and fifth place finish on bars. Denne turned up the heat on beam with her second place finish and 9.075 score.

Again Graning showed off her skill with a second place finish on floor.

All-around totals went to Graning with a third place finish and Denne with a fifth place finish.
