Becker gymnasts beat Big Lake

Becker gymnastics ventured to North Branch on Thurs, Jan. 16, and lost the meet to the Vikings. 

For vault, Junior Karli Kirk won with a score of 9.35 which was a season high score for her. Maggie Graning placed fourth with a score of 9.15 and Alyse Denne placed fifth with a score of 8.9. This was a season high team score of 36.05. 

On bars, Graning was a top finisher coming in second place with her season high score of 8.775. Kirk was right behind her with a third place finish and a score of 8.675. Denne snatched fifth place again with a score of 8.025. 

On beam, Graning was the highest scorer for Becker with a third place finish and a score of 9.0. Denne was up next with a fourth place finish and a score of 8.85. 

On floor, Graning again showed off her skills and placed second with a score of 9.35. Denne took fourth with a score of 8.95 and Chloe Spear took fifth with a score of 8.875. 

With a season-high all-around score of 36.275 and a second place finish, Graning almost overtook the reigning state all-around champion Dakota Esget of North Branch (36.6). Denne and Kirk placed fourth and fifth with scores of 34.725 and 34.65.

Vs. Big Lake

On Jan. 21, Becker hosted the Big Lake Hornets and beat them with a new season-high score. 

On vault, four Becker gymnasts took to the podium with a new season high score of 36.2. First place went to Karli Kirk (9.35), second place went to Alyse Denne (9.025), fourth place went to Maggie Graning (8.975) and fifth place went to Chloe Spear (8.85). 

On bars, Graning and Kirk tied with scores of 8.85 for first place. 

On beam, again four Becker gymnasts took to the podium for a season-high score of 36.2. First place went to Kirk (9.3), second place went to Denne (9.175), third place went to Graning (8.9), and fourth place went to Violet Johnson (8.85). 

For the third time, Becker took four podium spots for floor. First place went to Graning (9.375), second place went to Denne (9.125), third place went to Kirk (9.05), and fifth place went to Bella Kuschel (8.975). 

The top spots for all-around went to Becker gymnasts. Kirk took first with a personal best score of 36.55. Graning took second with a score of 36.1, and Denne took third with a score of 35.425.

Up Next

The girls’ next meet is on Sat., Jan. 25, in Big Lake where they will compete for State True Team Championships. Currently Becker is ranked sixth in the state and are hoping to continue to advance in their season.
