Becker girls capture first at Princeton

The Becker Bulldog girls track & field team participated in a True Team qualifier meet last Tuesday in Princeton.  

This meet is used to run a virtual meet to determine a true team section champion.  The judges will take these results and give the Bulldogs the virtual meet results sometime after Sunday, May 23.

The meet had regular scoring as well and the results from that are as follows: Becker 124, Princeton 100, Zimmerman 98, Milaca 89.

“We were excited to have won the meet and had some nice performances that contributed to the outcome,” said Becker Head Coach Trish Kealy. “We had eight personal best marks and six season bests.

Senior Cassidy Pleoger continues to run well and took home first place in both the 100 (12.94 season best) and the 200 (28.23 season best).  She was also part of the 4x100 relay along with Abby Atwood, Paige Maunu, and Sarah Woelfel) who took fourth place.

Becker’s hurdlers added more points with Sarah Woelfel running a season best time of 17.97 in the 100M hurdles for third place and Regan Hausmann placed fifth in the same event (18.26) and took second in the 300M hurdles (52.69-season best), just missing her PR.

Also bringing in a second place was Lexi Rose in the 1600M (5:52.18) and Meghan Swanson took third in the same race, running her PR time (5:54.57).

Alea Briggs captured second place in the 400M and ran a PR time of 66.8.

Becker’s 800M runners brought in a lot of points by having Kayla Gruenes take second (2:45.3), Katlyn Brower third (2:47.65) and Whitney Schug fourth ( 2:53.91).

Abby Atwood placed sixth in the 200 (31.56) .

Olivia Babler placed second in the 3200M with a time of 13:53.46 and Naiya Hanson took third in the same race (15:06.02).

The running events finished with the 4x400 relay in which the foursome ran their season best time of 4:31.91 taking third and just missing out on second place in that race. Team members running that relay were Kayla Gruenes, Regan Hausmann, Alea Briggs and Lexi Rose.

Becker’s field event competitors brought in points in several events. Evelyn Kreft was the team’s top field event athlete, placing first in the discus (96’4”) and third in the shot put (27’4”). Also scoring in the throws were Anna Briggs - second in shot put (28’) and fifth in the discus (80’7”), and Grace Schendel fourth in shot put (26’9”) and sixth in discus (79’8”).

Sarah Woelfel came in second place by jumping 4’8” in the high jump.

Fourth place went to Lauren Woelfel (7’6”) and fifth to Jessica Gruenes (7’) in the pole vault.

 The triple jumpers took fourth (Regan Hausmann 27’11 1/2”) and sixth (Skylar Schug 26’2”).

Becker competed at Big Lake Tuesday. Look to next week’s edition of the Patriot for results.
